Anubis

With a name inspired by the Egyptian God of the afterlife, Anubis embodies the sacred mysteries of Ancient Egypt. Heady blooms of jasmine, amid rich suede, smoulder over an incense laden base of frankincense, sandalwood, and labdanum.

Anubis began life as our perfumers personal signature scent. Liz has always been drawn to dark, leathery scents and the metamorphosis of Anubis from personal sketch to final product was considerable. It was nameless until it was completed, and it was then that she realised her fascination with ancient Egypt had subconsciously manifested itself; the initial materials used, synonymous with mummification, have now been sweetened into a dark but delicious fragrance. After many reincarnations, Anubis was born. Anubis was the first fragrance that Liz created for Papillon in 2014 and it has become one of our bestsellers and is a lucky amulet for the brand.

Perfume is more than adornment, it is ritual, memory, and expression.

Begin with clean, moisturised skin to help the fragrance linger.

Apply to the pulse points: the wrists, neck, behind the ears, places where the blood stirs just beneath the skin, warming the scent and releasing its story.

One or two sprays are all that’s needed. A soft dab, if using extrait. Let it settle naturally - do not rub, as this disturbs the composition and bruises the unfolding of the notes.

For a lighter presence, mist the air and walk through, a veil of scent, barely spoken.

Store away from sunlight and heat, as you would something rare and precious. Let the perfume become part of your presence, discovered, never declared.
