The Beginning

Papillon was not born from grand plans, but from a quiet longing to create something beautiful. In 2010, Liz Moores began blending perfumes at her kitchen table, guided by instinct and a deep love for the natural world. Each formula was an experiment in memory and imagination, a tapestry of rare materials and emotion. The first three fragrances, Anubis, Tobacco Rose, and Angélique, were bottled by hand, and worn exclusively by Liz and her close family members.

Word spread quietly at first. Friends and strangers would comment upon the unique fragrances worn by Liz, and soon Papillon’s debut collection in 2014 was welcomed by Les Senteurs, London’s revered perfume boutique. Our fragrances can now be found all over the world in some of the most esteemed perfume shops and boutiques.

The Papillon Philosophy

From the very beginning, our vision has been simple: to create perfumes that stir the soul and evoke the wild beauty of nature. Every Papillon fragrance is crafted using classical methods, in small batches, with an unwavering commitment to quality. We seek out rare absolutes and oils, blending them with care and patience, allowing each composition to unfold in its own time.

Our perfumes are androgynous, timeless, and always cruelty-free. We use only ethically sourced ingredients, from beach-combed ambergris to synthetic musk, ensuring that every bottle honours both artistry and integrity.

Liz’s creative process is deeply personal, rooted in a love of storytelling. She often says, “I think of colours, textures, and places. I imagine the people who might wear the perfume and hope it will become part of their own story.”
